Moein Shafaghi

Moein Shafaghi is an Iranian all-rounder who has played two seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League, both with Tamil Thalaivas. Fans know him best for his attacking work: across his PKL career he has scored 141 points in 27 matches, 131 of them from raids and 10 from tackles, along with 4 Super 10s.

PKL career

Shafaghi arrived in the league in Season 11 and made an immediate impression for Tamil Thalaivas. In 14 matches that season he scored 113 points, made up of 103 raid points and 10 tackle points, and he recorded all 4 of his career Super 10s.

One of his standout nights came on 18 December 2024 in Pune, when Tamil Thalaivas thrashed Bengal Warriorz 60-29. Shafaghi led the charge in the early exchanges and kept causing problems for the Warriorz defence. He completed his Super 10 with a multi-point raid early in the second half and finished with 13 points, matching Himanshu’s tally. Tamil Thalaivas reached a half-century of points for the first time that season, and the result was described as their best win of the campaign.

He also starred in a comprehensive win over Gujarat Giants. Shafaghi was among the players calling the shots as Tamil Thalaivas went into half-time leading 19-8, and he landed All Outs on the Giants in both halves. He later went through the Gujarat defence with a three-point raid to bring up another Super 10.

Season 12

Shafaghi stayed with Tamil Thalaivas for Season 12 in 2025. He played 13 matches and scored 28 points, all of them from raids, with a raid strike rate of 39 percent. He did not record a tackle point, a Super 10 or a High 5 that season.

Style of play

Although he is listed as an all-rounder, the bulk of Shafaghi’s output has come in attack. His best performances have featured multi-point raids and a habit of setting the tone early in matches, which helped Tamil Thalaivas build the leads that led to their biggest wins of Season 11.
