What we know so far

  • The league has not announced a date or venue for the Season 13 auction yet. Khel Now reported in August that it is likely between 18 and 25 October.
  • The calendar was pushed back by the Asian Games (21 to 26 September) and the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship in Ahmedabad (21 to 31 October).
  • The league's TV rights deal with Star Sports ended in 2025 and talks on a new one were still going on in September, according to Khel Now.
  • Season 13 is expected to start around December, once teams finish their camps.
  • Last year, 83 players were retained before the Season 12 auction: 25 Elite Retained Players, 23 Retained Young Players and 35 New Young Players.

How the auction works

Retentions first

Before the auction, each team can keep some of its players. Retained players' fees count against the team's purse.

Then the bidding

The remaining players go under the hammer in groups. Teams bid until one is left, and the player joins them at that price.

Final Bid Match

A team can keep a player from its previous squad by matching the winning bid, using a Final Bid Match (FBM) card.

The purse

Every team has the same total budget for retentions and buys. Once it is spent, the team cannot bid again.
